Packing files in a ZIP archive has several advantages: On the one hand, you can combine several documents, files and folders in just one file in a ZIP archive; on the other hand, the data in a ZIP archive is reduced in size to save space. ZIP files are therefore ideally suited to e.g. B. to send as an attachment in a mail. In the following we explain how you can easily create a ZIP archive on your Mac without additional software:

1st step:

Use the Finder to navigate to the files that you want to pack together in a ZIP archive .

2nd step:

Mark the relevant files by holding the mouse button down over the files or by marking each file individually while holding down the ⌘ button. Then right-click on one of the selected files and select "... Compress Objects " in the context menu .

3rd step:

Your previously marked data are then packed in a ZIP archive. You can of course still change the name of the ZIP file. To get back to the packaged files, simply double-click on the ZIP archive and your data will appear in a normal folder again.

  1. Select the files that you want to pack into a shared ZIP archive. Then right-click and select "... Compress Objects " in the context menu .
  2. The newly created ZIP archive then appears immediately, which you can of course rename.
  3. To unzip your files again, simply double-click on the ZIP archive .
