With the help of a WLAN hotspot from your smartphone, you can simply shred off a bit of data volume and use it to work on other devices. By assigning a password, you ensure that only you or the owner of the password have access to your hotspot and can use it. We'll tell you how to set up a hotspot on your mobile phone.

Set up a hotspot on Android

1st step:

Open the " Settings " on your smartphone .

Next, tap on " Wireless & networks ". On other devices, the mobile hotspot can also be found under " Network & Internet " or " Connections ".

Now go to " Tethering & portable hotspot ".

Next, tap on " Portable WiFi Hotspot ".

To assign a name and a password for your WiFi hotspot, tap on " Configure WiFi hotspot ".
Note: You only need to perform this step the first time you set up the hotspot. Your settings will be saved as long as you do not make any changes.

The device name is automatically preset for some devices. Tap on " Network Name " to change it.

If necessary, enter an individual network name and then tap on " Save ".

Then set the password for your hotspot in the corresponding field . Make sure that you use a secure password so that unauthorized users cannot use up your data volume via the hotspot. To save all settings, tap " Save ".

To activate your WiFi hotspot, tap the switch next to the network name . You will now see the hotspot on your external devices. With the help of the password you can connect to the WLAN - as you know it from other WLAN networks .
Note: The data volume used is deducted from your mobile phone. Therefore, make sure to deactivate the hotspot again as soon as you no longer need an Internet connection for your devices.

  1. Go to the " Settings " of your smartphone.
  2. Tap Network & Internet or Connections .
  3. Select " Tethering & Portable Hotspot ".
  4. Then continue tapping on " Portable WiFi hotspot ".
  5. To configure your WLAN hotspot, first tap on " Configure WLAN hotspot ".
  6. Then go to " Network Name" if you want to customize the name of the hotspot on your mobile phone.
  7. Then enter the name and confirm with " Save ".
  8. In the " Password " field, set a secure password and then tap on " Save ".
  9. Activate the switch next to the network name of your WiFi hotspot and connect to the Internet on your devices by entering the password .
