Google Contacts is a great way to collect and manage your contacts on an external platform. You can also synchronize the contacts managed there with other devices. Synchronizing means that changes in the contacts are automatically transferred to all devices that are also linked to the Google contacts. If you add a contact on one device, it will automatically appear on the other. We'll show you how to do this below.

Sync Google contacts with Android devices

If you already have an address book stored in your Google account, this is the easiest method. This synchronization even works if you are not using the Google Contacts app, but a different app to manage contacts. The contacts are then automatically integrated into the Contacts app you are using.

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open the settings on your Android device. Tap the Accounts section under the Users category .

2nd step:

Now tap on " Google " to edit the settings of your linked Google account.

3rd step:

Then move the slider next to Contacts. As soon as this is switched to On (i.e. on the right), your Google contacts are automatically synchronized with your smartphone or tablet.

Sync Google contacts with iPhone

Google contacts can also be automatically synchronized with the iPhone. Then your Google contacts will be automatically integrated into your address book. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Open the settings of your iPhone. Then select the " Accounts & Passwords " section.

2nd step:

Tap " Add Account ".

3rd step:

Then select " Google ".

4th step:

Enter the email address or phone number associated with your Google account . Then tap on " Next ".

5th step:

Now you have to enter the associated password . Then tap on " Next " again.

6th step:

Flip the slider next to Contacts and tap " Save ".

7th step:

If you have already saved contacts on your iPhone, a pop-up will appear. Here you have to decide whether you want to also integrate the synchronized contacts or delete the contacts that have already been saved .

Sync Google contacts with other devices

Direct (automatic) synchronization with other devices is often not possible. In mail management programs , you need to link your Gmail account so that contacts are imported from it. You can integrate your contacts in many programs by first exporting the Google contacts and then importing them into the relevant program . Then the contacts are integrated, but are not automatically synchronized .

Quick Start Guide: Sync Google Contacts with Android Devices

  1. Open the system settings .
  2. There you select the sub-item " Accounts " in the " User " area .
  3. Then tap on the Google account and set the slider for " Contacts " to. Normally this is switched on automatically.

Quick guide: syncing Google contacts with iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone settings .
  2. Then tap Accounts & Passwords .
  3. Select " Add Account ".
  4. Tap Google to link a Google account.
  5. Now you have to enter your email address / linked phone number first and then your password . Confirm both steps with " Next ".
  6. Then move the slider next to " Contacts " and tap " Save ".
If contacts are already backed up on the iPhone, you have to decide whether you want to keep them on the iPhone or delete them.
