To be able to use the Steam game platform, you need an account with a username and password. If you want to change this password, simply follow our step-by-step instructions.

Change password for Steam account

1st step:

Open Steam. At the top you will find a menu bar, the leftmost point of which is called " Steam ". Clicking on it opens a drop-down menu from which you have to select " Settings ". A pop-up window will open.

2nd step:

In this pop-up you have to open the tab " Account ". Normally this is already selected when you call up the settings. There click on " Change password ... ".

3rd step:

In another pop-up you can now choose one of several authentication methods . This includes confirmation via the Steam authenticator, SMS or email. If none of these work for you, the current password may also be used for authentication . Then click Next .

4th step:

In order to reset your password, an e-mail with the authentication code is usually sent to your saved e-mail address. You have to confirm this.

5th step:

Then enter the authentication code in the window and click " Next ". In the next step you can set a new password . If necessary, Steam will automatically log you out so that you have to log in again with the new password . You have then successfully updated your password.

1. Open Steam and open the " Steam " tab in the menu bar at the top left . Then select " Settings " from the drop-down menu .
2. In the pop-up, in the " Account " tab, which is already open, click on " Change password ... ".
3. Now you will be asked for the method how you would like to reset your password. You can use a possible Steam Authenticator, your stored e-mail address or a stored mobile phone number as the authentication method.
   If you don't have access to either of these methods, it may be sufficient to simply enter the current password for confirmation.
4. If you have chosen one of the above methods, you will receive a confirmation code on the medium of your choice . You then have to enter this in Steam. Clicking on " Next " takes you to the next step, in which you can set a new password . You may be logged out of Steam and have to log in again - this time with the new password.
