Open Word and then the odt file in it .

Go to the " File " tab .
Note: .doc and odt. are compatible, but may have formatting differences. In addition, the odt format lacks some Microsoft features. For example, the tracking of changes or the list of figures are not supported here.

Go to " Tools " in the menu and then to " Settings " in the drop-down menu .

Go to " Load / Save " and then to the sub-item " General ". Under " Always save as " you can choose between different Word formats. For doc click on " Microsoft Word 97/2000 / XP " and finally on " OK ".
