Whether in the AppStore on the iPhone or in the Google Playstore on Android devices: In-app purchases are often undesirable. On iOS, Apple has given the option of completely deactivating in-app purchases. On Android, Google only stipulates that in-app purchases must be confirmed with a password. Deactivating it completely does not work. We'll show you the easiest method in both cases.

Turn off in-app purchases on iPhone / iPad

1st step:

Open the settings on your Apple device. Then select the item " Screen time ". If you have never used this before, you have to configure the screen time first. We'll show you this below. If you have already used screen time, you can skip steps 2 and 3 and continue reading directly from step 4.

You will now be shown information about the Screen Time feature. Read it through, then tap Continue .

If this is your own device, tap " My iPhone " on the next screen . Otherwise, select " My Child's iPhone ".

Then tap on the item " Restrictions ".

Move the slider for " Restrictions " to the right so that it turns green. Then tap " Purchases in iTunes & App Store ".

Now you need to tap on the " In-App Purchases " option .

Select " Do not allow " here. Now you've turned off in-app purchases on your Apple device. If you want to reactivate it, all you have to do is tap on " Allow ".

Open the app to the Google Playstore. Then tap the three dashes in the top left to open the menu.

Then select the " Settings " item in this side menu .

In the settings you will find the category " User control ". Here tap on the sub-item " Authentication required for purchases ".

Then select the top item in the pop-up: " For all purchases on Google Play on this device ". Your password will be requested every time you make a possible in-app purchase . If you do not change this, you must enter the password here, with which you also log into the linked Google account.

  1. Call up the settings and select the item " Screen time ".
  2. Set up screen time if you haven't already. Then tap on " Restrictions ".
  3. Next to Restrictions, move the slider to the right so it turns green. Then tap iTunes & App Store Purchases .
  4. Tap on " In-App Purchases " and then on " Do not allow " in the next window .

  1. Open the settings and tap on the item " General ".
  2. Select " Restrictions " and then tap " Enable Restrictions ".
  3. Here you can set a code to edit the restrictions. Finally move the slider for " In-App Purchases " to the left to deactivate them.

  1. Open the Google Playstore app and tap the three lines in the top left .
  2. Then select the item " Settings " in the side menu .
  3. Now tap in the " User Controls " area on " Authentication required for purchases ".
  4. In the new window you must then tap on " For all purchases on Google Play on this device ". The specified password is requested before every in-app purchase. If you don't change the password, it will be the same as the password for your linked Google account.
