Mozilla Thunderbird saves the username and password for each account and each outgoing mail server in the password management. For better security, you should change your passwords regularly. You then have to adjust the new password in Thunderbird as well. We explain how exactly you do this here.

Attention: With these instructions you only change the stored password in Thunderbird. The actual password can only be changed with your email provider - for example with your linked web.de or gmx account. So first change the password at the provider and then in Thunderbird.

1st step:

Start Thunderbird and open the menu by clicking on the three-line menu in the upper right corner and selecting " Settings ".

In the left menu click on " Security " and select the " Security " tab . The " Saved passwords ... " button takes you to password management.

There you now select the IMAP and SMTP entries for the respective e-mail account and delete them by clicking on the " Remove " button .
