Have you made a backup and now want to restore it with Windows 10? We'll show you how to do it..

To keep your files safe, you should back them up regularly. We explain here how to create a backup with Windows 10. In this guide, we will show you how you can restore your backup data under Windows 10, for example if you have to restart your computer or if Windows is having problems. It does not matter whether the backup was created under Windows 10 or you want to restore a file from Windows 7.

1st step:

Open the start menu and search for " Control Panel " using the search field below .

In the Control Panel, click System and Security .

Then select " Security and Maintenance ".

Then go to the " Recovery " tab .

Here click on " Open System Restore ".

A new window is opening up. Enter the administrator data here . System restore will now start.

Note: You should not use the PC while the backup restore is running..

Restore a Windows 7 backup under Windows 10

You can use this variant if you do not want to restore the entire Windows, but only individual data or folders. The method is based on the backup function of Windows 7. Therefore, backups created under Windows 7 can be used. But even under Windows 10 you can use this method to create backups and restore them later. Read here how it works.

Follow our step-by-step instructions or read the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open the start menu and open the settings via the gear symbol.

In the settings click on " Update and Security ".

Then open the sub-item " Backup " on the left-hand side . In the area " Are you looking for an older backup? " You will find the item " Switch to backup and restore (Windows 7) ". Open it with a click.

A new window is opening up. In the sub-item " Restore " you can now find older backups of the PC. The current backup is displayed under " Backup ". To start the backup, click " Restore files for all users ". Enter the administrator data. These normally correspond to the user data .

  7. Now click on the " Users " folder and then on your username . After that, select the folder whose files you want to restore . When the folder opens, select the file you want here .
  8. The file is now displayed in the menu. Now click on " Next ".
  9. Finally, you need to determine the location. You have the choice between the original storage location and a freely selectable one . Choose the location and click " Restore ".
