If you are using very long numbers in Microsoft Excel, you can space each digit to make it easier to read. For example, numbers in the thousands can be recognized more easily. You can customize the number format exactly how you want it. We explain here how exactly you do it.

How to insert spaces between numbers

1st step:

First, hold down the [Ctrl] key and select all cells for which the new number format is to be used. Then right-click and select " Format cells ... " from the list that appears .

2nd step:

You can now enter your new number format under " Type " under the " User-defined " category . For example, enter ### ### to insert a space after three numbers, i.e. 123 456, or ## ## to insert a space after two numbers, i.e. 12 34. You can see how in " Example " the numbers are then ultimately formatted. Then confirm with " OK ".
