Do you want to create your own WordPress website? In the following we will show you how you can set up a user account and create a website. It also tells you how to download the WordPress app for the computer. This is available for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Set up WordPress website

1st step:

Open the WordPress website and click " Build Your Website " or " Get Started Now " to begin setting up your own website.

2nd step:

Now enter your email address . Then define a username and password . These are the login details for your WordPress account. Finally, click on " Create your account ".

3rd step:

Now equip your website with the necessary features: Give it a name and define topics that your website should revolve around. You can also specify what you want to achieve with your website. Confirm your entries to go to the next step.

4th step:

In the next step, enter your desired address in the search bar above . WordPress will now suggest domain names that most closely match this wish. Some of the alternatives are chargeable . However, you will always be offered at least one free URL (marked here with an arrow). Click on " Select " to decide on an address.

5th step:

Now you have to decide on a tariff. The " Free " tariff is completely free, but only contains a basic package of functions. Each of the other tariffs offered is chargeable: the more a tariff costs monthly, the more functions it contains. Decide for yourself what is the best choice for you by clicking on " Start with [tariff name] ".

6th step:

You will now be redirected to the overview of your website. You will be greeted with visitor statistics on the start page of " My Website ". On the left side you will find a menu with all the important functions. In the " Manage " area you can use the " Add " button to add, for example, pages, blog entries, references or a media library to your website. So you can easily design your own website according to your wishes.

1st step:

Log into the WordPress website . If you do not have an account there yet, you can create one here . In the overview of " My website " you then have to click on the account / profile icon at the top right . This will take you to your profile and settings overview.

2nd step:

Scroll down in the bar on the left until the " Download app " item is visible. You can then click on " Download " on the right if you want to download the app for a Windows PC. If you have a different operating system, simply click on its blue-shaded name to the left of the download button.

3rd step:

Now a pop-up appears in which you have to click on " Save file ". The setup file for the WordPress app will now be downloaded automatically.

4th step:

The setup file is now in the download folder of your computer . Open it with a double click.

5th step:

A new window will now open. Here you can decide with a click whether you want to install the program for all users of the computer or only for your user account. Once you have made your decision, click on " Install ". The installation will now start.

6th step:

Once the installation is complete, you just have to " Finish click". If you check the box next to " Run WordPress.com " above , the program will also start directly.

Quick guide: Set up your WordPress website

1. Go to the WordPress website and click on " Create your website " or " Start now ".
2. Then enter your email address and choose a username and password . Confirm by clicking on " Create your account ".
3. Now decide what your website should be called and enter topics for your website.
4. Now you have to decide on a URL , the address of your website. WordPress will help you set the best possible website address. Some of the addresses are chargeable, but a free address is always offered.
5. The last step is to choose a tariff. The " Free " tariff is always free, the other tariffs are chargeable. If you decide on a fee-based tariff, you still have to enter your payment details.
6. Now you get to the overview " My Website ", in which you can set up your WordPress website. The " Traffic ", i.e. the visitor counter, is displayed directly on the home page .
7. Now the " Manage " area on the left in the menu is important for you: Here you can use the " Add " button to add pages, blog posts, a media library or references to your website.

Quick guide: Download and install the app

1. Log in to the WordPress website with your WordPress account . If you don't have an account yet, you can create one here .
2. As soon as you are in the " My website " overview , you have to click on the person / account icon in the top right corner .
3. Scroll down the left bar all the way down and then click on " Download app ". Then click on " Download " in the " Desktop App for Windows " section if you have a Windows PC. Otherwise, click on the corresponding operating system name with a blue background.
4. Now a window opens in which you have to click on " Save file ". The WordPress app will now be downloaded automatically.
5. The setup file is now in the download folder of your PC. Open this.
6. You will now be asked whether you want to install the program for yourself or for all users of the computer. Select an option by clicking on it and then select " Install ".
7. After the WordPress installation is complete, all that's left to do is finish it. To do this, click the corresponding button in the window. If you check the box next to " Execute WordPress.com ", the program will also start automatically.
