The open source image manipulation program GIMP provides some useful tools that you can use to select and edit objects on your images. The easiest way to freeze objects is to use the rectangular or elliptical selection. But since it seldom happens that an object to be released is round or square, in these instructions we present the free selection with which you can really mark any object and then edit it.

How to Freeze Objects in GIMP

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

First select the free choice. To do this click the " tools " to " Selection Tools " and then " Free choice ". Alternatively, you can simply press the [F] key.

2nd step:

Now start to outline the object . You click again and again on the edge and thus set points . These are connected by lines .

3rd step:

To make the selection complete , you have the outline by clicking on the first point close.

Now press the [F] key to mark the selection. It should then move in black and white.

You can now either copy the object with the key combination [Ctrl] + [C] and paste it into another picture with [Ctrl] + [V] or remove it with [Ctrl] + [X] .

quick start Guide

  1. Subsequently click " Tools "> " Selection Tools "> " Free choice ". Alternatively, you can just press [F] .
  2. Now outline the object by clicking points on the edge , which are connected by lines .
  3. For completion , connect the line with the first point .
  4. The choice to select , press [F] .
  5. You can now copy ([Ctrl] + [C]), paste ([Ctrl] + [V]) and remove ([Ctrl] + [X]) the object with the appropriate key combinations .
