People want to know how to use Instagram on computer so that they can upload the photos to social media app from their PC or Mac ..
But the free Instagram app is designed to take, edit, and share images on mobile phones rather than desktops. Its special effects or filters to enhance images are a big part of its popularity, so naturally a lot of people want to use these filters on their regular computers in addition to their phones.

No easy fix
But unfortunately, there is no Instagram app in desktop version that would make it easier to upload photos and use the app's filters on your PC or Mac. Despite requests from many users for the ability to upload photos from their computers, Instagram does not offer any such function. Is there an alternative to Instagram on computers?

One solution is to install special software designed to simulate a mobile phone operating system on your computer (called a phone emulator) and allow you to run mobile applications that way. An example of an emulator is the BlueStacks App Player. You can try to download the application and install it on your computer.
Once it's installed and running, search for “Instagram” using the app's search interface and install it on your computer. Be aware, however, that there have been many technical issues reported by people trying to get Bluestacks to work with Instagram on a PC or Mac. Instagram will usually work, letting you see photos that other people have uploaded, but you'll still need to install a media download to upload your photos to Instagram. An example of such a program is Media Sync, but issues have also been reported with this.
If you are a Windows user, another application called Gramblr offers a download which is easier to install and use, but only if you have a Windows PC. Although Gramblr is supposed to be compatible with Macs, it has had a lot of compatibility issues from Apple. And even on the PC, there are challenges to overcome: you have to get rid of your Instagram password, for example, because it uses Instagram's API.
Perhaps the lowest solution is email: just send yourself the photo you want to share on Instagram, then go to that email on your mobile phone and start Instagram.
Yet another solution for sharing your non-mobile photos on Instagram is to use Dropbox, the free cloud-based storage app, and upload your photos to Dropbox.
Then go to your phone or tablet and go to your free space on Dropbox, find the photos you want to share and share them on Instagram. This option does not give you access to Instagram's filters for these images but at least allows you to share them on Instagram.
Other Instagram apps for computers
Many other Instagram-related programs exist for desktop computers (but not specifically for uploading photos to Instagram.) It's called Instagram for PC. Another application for desktop use is a free program called Instagrille, which allows you to do everything you would normally do on Instagram on your PC except upload photos.

Other similar applications
If you want to apply special effects to your computer, try other photo apps that do things similar to Instagram. Two good ones are Pixlr and Poladroid.net, which run from a standard web browser and include cool Vintage filter effects.
