Whether as bullets or page numbers, Roman numerals are often used in text documents. In theory, you can write them by hand. Because they only consist of the capital letters I, V, X, C, L, and M. But in Microsoft's Word there are also other ways of inserting Roman numerals. We have three different options for you here.

Write Roman numerals in continuous text

1st step:

To do this, change the font to " Times New Roman ".

2nd step:

Now press [Shift] and, for example, [V] for 5. You simply write the capital letters , but you have to be familiar with the Roman spelling of the numbers.

Insert using symbols

1st step:

Switch to the " Insert " tab and click on " More symbols ... " for " Symbol ".

2nd step:

Now select " SimSun " as the font and set " Subset " to " Numbers ". You will now be shown Roman numerals, which you can insert with a double click .

Numbering in Roman

1st step:

Click on the small arrow next to the button for numbering . Now select the Roman numbering there.

2nd step:

With a click on " Define new number format ... " you can adapt the appearance of the numbering.

Insert Roman page numbers

1st step:

Go up the tab " Insert " and click on " pages " to " page number format ... " for more options open for page numbers.

2nd step:

Now select the Roman number format from the drop-down menu for " Number format :" . Confirm the setting with " OK ".
