There are the staples like Netflix, HBO Now, and Hulu, as well as TV network apps like CNN and CBS. And there are games, health and fitness apps, and even apps from companies like Gilt and Airbnb.
But one app that's missing is Amazon Video
The Amazon Video app, which is available on Roku devices as well as Amazon's own line of streaming devices, allows people to purchase movies and TV shows. It also allows Amazon Prime members to stream the company's Netflix service, which includes thousands of movies and TV series, including critically acclaimed original shows..
It's not clear why Amazon hasn't built an app for the Apple TV yet, or if it's even working on one. Neither Apple nor Amazon will comment on it.

Super Easy Way to Watch Amazon Videos on Apple TV
All you'll need is the Amazon Video app, an iPhone or iPad, and, of course, an Apple TV.
Step 1. Once you download the app and sign in, just choose what you want to watch. Also, make sure your device is on the same WiFi network as your Apple TV.
Step 2. As soon as you start watching, tap the Airplay button in the upper right corner of the screen. Then select Apple TV.
Step 3. Like magic, the video streams to your TV rather than your iPhone or tablet. The Airplay icon is orange and a notice appears on your phone screen that it is streaming to your Apple TV.
It still works when you lock your phone, which you should be doing to save battery life.
Airplay works on many apps, not just Amazon. So if you find yourself at home and want to watch what's on your phone on your TV, be sure to check to see if Airplay is available.
