Unfortunately, you cannot simply integrate a timeline into a PowerPoint presentation using a macro or a template. You have to build it up yourself, piece by piece. But that's not difficult at all if you follow our instructions.

Create a timeline in PowerPowerpoint

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

image
Open a blank slide in your PowerPoint presentation. You can enter a title if you want . Here the slide has been given the title " Timeline ". Then open the tab " Insert " in the menu bar and click on " Shapes ".

2nd step:

Now select an arrow shape. The broad arrow pointing to the right is probably best. It's the first arrow in the Block Arrows category. Click and click and drag to add it to your slide.

3rd step:

Open the " Shapes " menu again. But now click on a line instead of an arrow. We recommend the first line in the " Lines " area. Draw a line from the arrow wherever you later want to mark an event on your time ray. Tip: If several events are close together, you can make some of the lines longer or shorter. This way the text will not overlap later.

4th step:

In the " Insert " tab, click the " Text Box" surface. Drag a text box to the end of your first line.

5th step:

Then label the text box with the first event on your timeline and repeat this step for all the events that you want to show on your timeline.

6th step:

image
Then go to " Text Box " in the " Insert " tab again. Now click on the thick arrow . So you can label the arrow directly. In the " Start " tab, select " Left- justified" as the text format . Then write your years in the arrow. You can determine the intervals between the years by pressing the space bar several times or by pressing the tab key . You have now successfully inserted a timeline into your presentation.

quick start Guide

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation and bring up a blank slide .
  2. Click on " Shapes " in the " Insert " tab .
  3. Now select an arrow shape, ideally the " arrow: to the right " from the " block arrows " category . Click and drag to paste it into the slide and adjust the size.
  4. Go back to the Shapes and now click on a simple line in the " Lines " category .
  5. Draw a line wherever you want to attach an event to the time ray later.
  6. Now click on " Text field " in the " Insert " tab .
  7. Open the text field on the first line. Then label it with the first event on your timeline. Repeat this step for all strokes.
  8. Go back to " Text Box " and click the arrow directly . Now you can enter your years. The best thing to do is to set the text format for the text in the arrow to Left-justified in the start menu .
