Would you like to change the status in your WhatsApp profile but don't know where to find the setting? We show you how it works..

Many WhatsApp users see the status as an opportunity to personalize their profile even further. Whether you use a cool saying, emojis or just a given status is up to you. If someone wants to write a message to you and opens the contact overview, the status is displayed under your name. Our guide explains how to adjust the status:

1st step:

Open WhatsApp and tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the app. A menu opens in which you select " Settings ".

3rd step:

Now tap on your profile .

4th step:

Under your picture and name you will find the point " Info and telephone number ". Tap the status for this.

5th step:

You can now select a predefined status from the list or tap on the pen at the top right to create a status yourself .

6th step:

When you tap the pen , this window will appear. You can now tap the bar at the top and use the keyboard to enter a status of 139 characters . Also smileys can be used here (with the button to the right of the bar). When you're done, tap OK .

Change WhatsApp status on iPhone

With the iPhone, the status is adjusted in the profile. We'll show you where the setting is hidden. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide :

1st step:

Open WhatsApp and tap Settings in the lower left corner of the ribbon . At the top, tap your profile (picture + name).

2nd step:

At the bottom of the profile page you will find the point " Info ". Tap the field below.

3rd step:

You can now either tap the field under " Current Info " to enter a status yourself (see next screenshot) or choose a preset status from the " Select new info " list . If you tap on " Edit " in the upper right corner , you can edit and delete the preset status. The current status is marked with a blue tick and always appears at the top under " Current Info ".

4th step:

If you tap on " Latest Info ", this page will appear. Here you can enter a cool saying , emojis or anything else that does not contain more than 139 characters. Then tap on " Save " to apply the status.

1. Open WhatsApp and tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the app.
2. Select " Settings " from the menu and tap on your profile .
3. Tap on your status under " Info and phone number ".
4. Now you can either select a predefined status from the list or tap on the pen at the top right to define a status yourself .
5. If you want to create your own status, you have 139 characters available. Also emoji can be used for it. Finally, click OK to confirm the status.

Quick guide: Change WhatsApp status on the iPhone

1. Open Whatsapp and tap on " Settings " in the bottom right of the menu .
2. Tap on your profile above and on the field under the point " Info ".
3. Define your own status by tapping on the field under " Current Info " , inserting the status there and clicking on " Save ".
4. The current status is marked with a blue tick and is always at the top under " Current Info ".
5. You can also choose a preset status from the list below. You can change and delete a preset status with " Edit ".
