She is now known like a sore thumb: voice assistant Alexa, who is at home in Amazon's Echo devices. Whenever you want to use one of its functions or skills, you have to address the device with the activation word "Alexa" - this is the default setting. However, if you prefer to use a different name, there are currently four options available to you. The nickname can be changed in seconds using the Alexa app.

1st step:

Open the Amazon Alexa app and tap the menu icon in the top left corner (☰).

2nd step:

A side menu opens . Here tap on " Settings ".

3rd step:

Now select your Amazon Echo device . In the example we tap on our Echo Dot.

4th step:

Keep swiping down and tap " Activation Word ". Here you can also see which word is currently set. " Alexa " is the default setting for a new device .

5th step:

Tap on " Alexa Device Activation Word " to open the selection below. You can choose between four different nicknames here . After choosing one of the words, tap on " Save ".

1. Open the Alexa app and tap on the menu symbol (☰) in the top left.
2. Under " Settings "> " Your device "> " Activation word " you can select your desired nickname from four different activation words.
3. Tap on " Save " and the new name is set.
