Sometimes it is important to know which graphics card is installed in your own PC. For example, when it comes to games or you want to install a new driver. There are several ways in which you can use Windows 10 to find out which graphics card is installed in your computer:

Read out the graphics card via the device manager

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Right click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner and select " Device Manager ". Alternatively, you can use the shortcuts [Win] + [X] and then [G] to get to the device manager.

2nd step:

Look for " Graphics card " in the list and open the tab by clicking on the arrow to the left of it. The name of the graphics card will then be displayed.

With a double click on the name of the graphics card you get more information about the card.

Read out graphics card with "DxDiag"

Windows has been equipped with DirectX as standard since a few versions . With this analysis software you can read out your graphics card very easily. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Open DirectX with the key combination [ Windows ] + [ R ] and enter " dxdiag " in the window . Confirm with " OK ".

2nd step:

Now select the item " Display " in the new window at the top .

There you will find the name and a lot of other information about your graphics card.

Read out graphics card with an external program

You can also use an external program to display the name and further information of the graphics card. We explain how it works with the free software GPU-Z:

  1. Download GPU-Z , for example from heise Download via this link: www.heise.de/download/product/gpu-z
  2. After installing the software, open GPU-Z .
  3. The name of your graphics card and a lot of other information are displayed directly to you .

Quick start guide: Device Manager

  1. Use the shortcut [Windows] + [X] to open a menu. Select " Device Manager " here.
  2. Search for " graphics card " in the hardware components listed and open the tab.
  3. You will now see the name of the graphics card. Further information can be opened by double-clicking.

Quick guide: "DxDiag"

  1. Open DirectX using the key combination [Windows] + [R] .
  2. Now enter " dxdiag " in the window and confirm with " OK " or [ Enter ].
  3. You will be redirected to a new window, where you select the " Display " item above . The name of your graphics card will now be displayed in the top left corner.
