If you have set up a printer on your Windows 10 computer, you can share it with other computers in the network. We'll explain how this works in the following guide.

Note: You need admin rights to share a printer.

Share printer on network

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Open the settings via the Windows symbol and the gearwheel or via the key combination [Windows] + [I] .

2nd step:

In the settings, click on " Devices ".

3rd step:

Select the option " Printers & Scanners " in the column on the left . Then click in the overview on the printer that you want to share and go to " Manage ".

Here click on " Printer Properties ".

Switch to the " Sharing " tab at the top and click the " Change sharing options " button .

Check the box next to " Share printer ". You can also give the printer a new share name here . Confirm your details with " OK ".

Turn off password-protected shares

To enable printing from the other PCs without entering a password, you should switch off the password-protected shares. To do this, follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Go back to the settings and select " Network and Internet ".

Click here under " Change network settings " on " Sharing options ".

Open the item " Guest or Public (current profile) " via the small arrow on the right-hand side and mark the option " Activate file and printer sharing ".

Now open the option " All networks ".

Now scroll down and mark the item " Deactivate password-protected sharing ". Confirm your settings with " Save changes ".

  1. Open the settings via the start menu or the key combination [Windows] + [I].
  2. Click on Devices .
  3. Select " Printers & Scanners " on the left .
  4. Now click on the printer you want to share and select " Manage ".
  5. Then go to " Printer Properties ".
  6. Switch to the " Sharing " tab at the top and click the " Change sharing options " button .
  7. Now check the box next to " Share printer ", assign a share name and confirm with " OK ".
