Firefox is one of the most popular internet browsers. But sometimes a change of scenery is necessary - even with regard to the browser. Whether an unsuitable update or missing plug-ins are the reason for the uninstallation - we will show you how you can uninstall Firefox and then adapt your standard browser.

Uninstall Firefox

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Press the [Windows] + [R] keys at the same time to open the Run menu. Enter " appwiz.cpl " here and confirm with " OK " to get to the deinstallation menu.

Now select Firefox from the list of programs to be uninstalled. Normally the list is sorted alphabetically and the program can be found under " Mozilla Firefox [version number] ". Then click on " Uninstall " at the top .

You may have to confirm the deinstallation by entering administrator data . These data normally correspond to your login data for the computer. Firefox will now be uninstalled. This can take a moment.

Change the default browser

If you click on a link in another program, it will be opened directly with your default browser. From the Windows side, this is Edge, but you can also set it to work with other browsers such as Firefox. After uninstalling Firefox, the default browser may not automatically change back to Edge. Open Windows Settings and click on the " Apps " option .

Select " Standard apps " from the list on the left.

Now click on the selected browser under " Standard web browser" to change it to a browser of your choice.

  4. You may still have to log in with your administrator data . Usually these correspond to your login data for the computer. Now the program will be uninstalled.

  2. Click on " Default apps " in the list on the left .
  3. Scroll down until you see the " Web Browser " section. Below that is a web browser, possibly Firefox.
  4. Click it to set another app as the default web browser.
