Would you like a different default search engine in Firefox? Here we show you how to change the search engine settings!

There are also different preferences with search engines. Google is set as the default search engine for you, but you would rather search the Internet with Bing or Yahoo or the other way around? No problem, this is how you change the default search engine in Firefox:

1st step:

Open Firefox and enter any search term in the search bar above. Then click the gear icon next to the alternative search engines to change the search settings.

2nd step:

If you click on the arrow next to the current search engine under " Default search engine", a selection of the pre-installed search engines will open.

3rd step:

Select one of the search engines here. You do not have to save the process afterwards, the search engine you click is activated directly. If your desired search engine is not listed in the standard search engines, you can also add other search engines . We'll show you how to do this in the following.

Add another search engine in Firefox

1st step:

In the search settings below, under " One-Click Search Engines ", click " Add more search engines ".

2nd step:

The Firefox " add-ons store " opens automatically with alternative search engines from which you can select one. We opt for " MetaGer Search " as an example .

3rd step:

Click " Add to Firefox " to install the search engine as an add-on in your browser. The search engine now appears when you select the default search engine. How to select it there is shown in the instructions above.

1. Open Firefox .
2. Enter any search term in the search bar at the top. Next to the search alternatives that open, click on the gear symbol .
3. Under " Default Search Engine " click the arrow next to the current search engine.
4. Now simply select your desired search engine .

Quick guide: Add another search engine

1. In the search settings, click on " Add more search engines " at the very bottom .
2. You can search for your desired search engine in the Firefox add-on store.
3. Click the search engine, then click " Add to Firefox ".
4. This can now be found in your standard search engine and can be selected there (we explain how to do this here ).
