Have you written a text in a language other than the standard Word language and now want to change the language? We explain how to do it..

By default, Microsoft Word gets the language from your operating system. However, you can also change this independently. However, if you have only written a text in a foreign language once and you do not want to change the entire program language straight away, you can simply adjust the language of the spell checker. We explain how exactly you do that here.

Change program language

1st step:

Click on the " File " tab at the top left and select " Options " from the menu on the left.

In the " Language " category you can now set a different language for the program under " Select display language " . Select a language and click " Set as Default ". If your preferred language is not listed, you can download it by clicking " Get more display and help languages ​​from Office.com ".

Change the language of the spell checker

1st step:

Highlight the text whose spelling in another language considered to be. Switch to the " Review " tab at the top and then under " Language " click on " Language " and " Set language for the proofing aids ... ".

Choose now your desired language from. If necessary , Word will ask you to download the proofreading language . In this case, just click on " Download " and the rest will happen automatically .
