A seller cheated on you through PayPal? Then you should definitely try to get your money back! In the following we will explain in which cases you can cancel a payment and when not. We will also show you how you can claim your money back and what exceptions there are in this case.
There is no easy way to cancel a PayPal payment. Because once the money is transferred, you cannot claim it back with one click. This method is used to give the seller some protection. Because if every transaction could be immediately reversed, criminals could take advantage of it. The buyer would transfer the amount and once the purchased item has shipped, cancel or reclaim the payment.
It used to be a little easier to undo a payment via PayPal. But so that the seller also has a certain level of security (and PayPal less work), you must now contact the seller first. You can do this within 180 days of the payment date by calling up the relevant transaction in the activities overview and clicking on " Report a problem ". Select your problem and report it to the seller. He can repay all or part of the amount to you with a click of the mouse. Only if you run into problems with the seller can you switch PayPal on and submit a buyer protection claim within 20 days. Problems with the seller include the fact that he does not contact you and that he does not refund you any money despite clear evidence of his fraud (or similar). As can be seen in the image below, the "Report a Problem" option is missing from purchases made on eBay. PayPal refers to its own buyer protection. It is recommended that you call up your purchase history via your eBay account and then contact the seller. Alternatively, you can use the "Resolve Problems" option on the eBay website to claim your buyer protection via eBay.
