JavaScript is a programming language that can be used to optimize websites. JavaScript can be activated and deactivated manually in the browser. In the following instructions we will show you how to activate JavaScript for Mozilla Firefox. That in itself is quite simple.

What is JavaScript?

Many websites are programmed in HTML and JavaScript. The JavaScript parts are then inserted into the basic HTML structure. The browser of the page visitor then executes the formatting and commands programmed with JaveScript so that the page can be displayed correctly.
The advertising on most websites is also programmed in JavaScript. One might think that turning off JavaScript could replace an ad blocker. But if JavaScript is deactivated, not only will the advertising no longer be displayed, but also large parts of the website. For this reason, it makes sense and, on some pages, it is essential that JavaScript is activated.

However, due to the complexity of the programming language, there is also a potential source of danger in JavaScript. If JavaScript is active in the browser, all programmed commands of a website are executed. For a "drive-by infection" it is sufficient to briefly call up a page with malicious code and then close it again immediately. This is exactly the reason why unknown links, for example from spam mails, should not be clicked on. But you don't have to worry too much: as long as you have found out about phishing emails and use a usable anti-virus scanner, you are relatively well protected.

Activate JavaScript in Firefox - this is how it works

1st step:

Open Firefox and enter " about: config " in the address bar . When the warning message appears, click on “ I am aware of the dangers! ” Don't be intimidated by the warning message: You are now entering the configurations , i.e. settings of Firefox. The configurations are at the heart of Firefox. The program is made up of them. If you were to change or delete settings at random, this could have fatal consequences for your browser. But as long as you are only doing what is mentioned in the next step, you don't have to worry.

2nd step:

Then enter " javascript.enabled " in the search bar . Double-click the appropriate option in the list so that it says " true " on the right . This means that JavaScript is active as soon as you restart your browser.
