If you connect a new monitor to your PC, you usually have to set the resolution manually first. The screen resolution influences the sharpness of text and images - the higher the resolution, the sharper and clearer the display. We will explain how to change the resolution in Windows 10 below.

Make a right click on a blank area of your desktop . A context menu opens in which you click " Display settings ".

In the display settings you will find the option " Resolution " or " Screen resolution " for newer Windows 10 versions. Click on the arrow to the right of the currently set resolution and look for a new value in the list that appears .

After you have clicked on a new resolution, a preview appears. If the resolution is correct, click " Keep ", if you want to change the resolution again, click " Reset ".

Note: If you have selected a resolution that is too high for your monitor, the screen will go black. Then just press the [Esc] key or wait 10 seconds. Windows then resets the settings and you can choose a different resolution.
