As you surf the Internet, your browser stores a lot of information about you. Sometimes you may not want other people using your computer to see this information. That's why you can use Firefox's private mode to cover your surfing tracks. Search entries, chronicles, pages visited, cookies and other temporary Internet files will then not be saved in your browser. But be careful: This does not mean that you are completely anonymous on the Internet; you would have to use a VPN connection to do this. Even in private mode, your internet provider or your employer will still be able to see which internet pages you have visited. In addition, downloaded files and bookmarks will still be saved on your PC. How to activate the private mode in Firefox temporarily or permanently,we will show you below.

Open Firefox and click the menu icon (☰) in the upper right corner. Then select " New Private Window ". You can start private mode more quickly with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [P] .

A new private window will open. Now you are surfing in private mode. You can also recognize this by the fact that a purple icon with a mask can be seen in the upper right corner . Search entries, chronicles, pages visited, cookies and other temporary Internet files are no longer stored on your computer for the duration of your current browser usage. The next time you open Firefox, private mode is automatically disabled.

Permanently activate private mode in Firefox

1st step:

Click on the menu symbol (☰) in the upper right corner . Then select " Settings ".

2nd step:

Click on " Privacy & Security " in the left bar . Then under " History " select the option " Always use private mode ". Firefox then asks you to restart your browser so that private mode is activated permanently.
