The Google Play Store updates your apps and thus ensures the security of your Android device. It is fatal if you have problems with this and the Play Store can no longer install updates. Such problems usually manifest themselves in crashes or error messages. Most of the time, however, these problems can be easily remedied.

Common problems and solutions

The causes of malfunctions in the Play Store can be very different and sometimes you cannot help it:

  • Is google down? - Google also has malfunctions if, for example, a server has failed. But don't worry, this will be taken care of immediately and if you wait a few minutes everything should work again.
  • Are you connected to the internet? - Check if your smartphone is connected to the internet by trying to load a page in your browser. Or maybe you are currently using your mobile data network. In that case switch to WLAN. If you cannot establish a connection, briefly switch your flight mode on and then off again.
  • Is a Google Play update being installed? - Not only apps and games, but also the Play Store itself receives updates. However, these run in the background. If so, close the Play Store again and wait a few minutes.
  • Do you still have enough memory? - To be able to install updates, you need at least 500 MB of free memory on your smartphone. Most of the time you will get a warning that your memory is low. In this case, uninstall unnecessary applications.
  • Are there any problems with the DNS server? - By default, the Android device specifies 8.8.8.8 as the DNS server address. Google also offers an alternative DNS address, namely 8.8.4.4.
