Would you like to read WhatsApp messages without receiving a read receipt? How to deactivate the blue tick!

By default, WhatsApp is set so that two blue ticks appear at the bottom right when a message is read. So you can be sure that the message has not only arrived, but has also been read. But regardless of the reasons: Not everyone would like the other person to receive this read receipt. If you would also prefer to turn this function off, the route leads via the settings to the goal. This is how it works :

The following instructions were performed with an iPhone, but work the same for Android devices..

1st step:

Open WhatsApp on your smartphone. Then tap on the three dots in the upper right corner (Android) or on the settings symbol in the lower right corner (iPhone). In the settings, tap on the item " Account ".

2nd step:

Select " Data protection " in the account settings .

3rd step:

By default, the button (iPhone) or the box (Android) next to " Read receipt " is activated. Tap the button / the box and thereby deactivate the read receipt. From now on, your contacts can no longer see whether you have read a message or not.

Note: The deactivation of the blue tick does not apply within group chats. They are still displayed here.

2. In the settings, tap on " Account " and then on " Privacy ".
