In Word, fractions can also be brought into a nice-looking format. All that is required is a few formatting. By including a formula formatting, you can insert fractions in your regular Word text.

Writing fractions correctly in Word

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

Tip:
Some fractions, such as 1/2, are automatically formatted by Word.

1st step:

Unfortunately, in most cases it doesn't help to just break in a slash in Word and hope for automatic formatting . Therefore you have to insert a formula formatting .

2nd step:

Select the " Insert " tab and click on " Formula ". A formula format box is now automatically inserted into your text. You may have to delete its content "<Enter a formula here.>" Manually because the display does not always disappear correctly when you enter it.

3rd step:

In the newly opened tab " Formula tools design " click on Fraction . A menu will appear in which you can choose the design of your fraction. Click on one of the options to decide.

Hover your mouse over the fraction without clicking . You will see a box. If you click and drag on the three points of the box , you can position the fraction where you want it.

Now you can insert your fraction into your text as you wish.

  1. Open the " Insert " tab and click the " Formula " button .
  2. A new tab called " Formula Tools Design " opens . Click here on Break and choose the break look you prefer.
  3. Now you've created a fraction. Fill in the two boxes with the numbers that appear in your fraction.
  4. For example , if you click and move the three dots of the format box where the fraction is located, you can drag it into text.
