With Windows 10, various apps and programs are automatically installed, including the Microsoft Edge browser. There is no option to uninstall these apps. Because they are so deeply integrated into the system, there are many risks associated with uninstalling them. We therefore advise you not to intervene in the system. However, in this guide we offer you risk-free variants to get rid of the browser.

Set another browser as the default browser

If you change your default browser, all links and files will automatically appear in the browser you choose. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

You will now be asked whether you really want to continue using Microsoft Edge or try it out. Click on " Switch Anyway ".

Rename program folder

If you rename the folder for the Edge browser, the system will no longer find it. Although it is still in the system, it can no longer be started.

But be careful: Renaming a program folder can lead to unforeseeable problems. For example, with the next function update it can happen that Edge reappears or that the update fails directly. Changing the default browser is usually sufficient and with this approach you are definitely on the safe side.

If you still prefer to rename the program folder for Microsoft Edge, follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..
