Would you like to change your Skype password for security reasons? Since your Skype account is linked to your Microsoft account, you will need to change your Microsoft password to do this. This will also change the password for all other Microsoft services that you may still be using.

How to change your Skype password

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

Note: The password can not be changed via the Skype app on the smartphone!

1st step:

Log into your Skype account in the browser or in the desktop app and click on the three dots in the top left . Then select the item " Settings ".

In the settings below, click on " Your Account ".

You will now be redirected to a website. Scroll down there a little and click on " Change Password " on the left .

Now enter your Microsoft user name and the appropriate password and confirm each with " Next ".

Now select an option to verify your identity . A code will then be sent to the specified email address or mobile phone number. If you have the code sent to you by SMS, you first have to enter the last 4 digits of your mobile phone number.

Now enter the code and confirm with " Next ".

Here you can now change your Microsoft password - and thus your Skype password. Simply enter your old password once and your new password twice. We explain here how to find a password that is as secure as possible. The password change becomes effective by clicking on " Save ".

  1. Log into your Skype account and click on the three dots above . Then select " Settings ".
  2. In the new window you have to click on " Your Account " below .
  3. A website opens. Go to " Change Password " below .
  4. Now enter your Microsoft username and the associated password .
  5. Then choose an option to verify your identity .
  6. Depending on your choice, you will now be sent an email or SMS with a code. Enter this code and confirm .
  7. Now you can set a new password . Confirm your change by clicking on " Save ".
