Would you like to make the background of an image transparent using MS Paint? We'll show you how..

You cannot create a transparent background directly in Paint. You can only copy an object with no associated background into a new paint file, i.e. in front of a different background. How to remove the background is explained below.

Remove image background in Paint

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Create an object in Paint, such as the Shapes tool.

2nd step:

First click on " Select ". After that you have to click on the little arrow below. Now select " Transparent selection ".

3rd step:

Now draw a rectangle around the shape you want to select. It doesn't matter if the background is also selected in addition to the shape. Then press the key combination [Ctrl] + [C] to copy.

4th step:

Now open another Paint document. Here you can insert the object you have just selected using the key combination [Ctrl] + [V] . For a better illustration we have selected a document with a green background. Only the orange circle has been inserted.

Tip: GIMP offers you a much more convenient solution for transparent backgrounds..

quick start Guide

  1. Create a paint file and paste something in. This can be a shape, for example.
  2. Click on " Select ". You can then use the small arrow below to open further options. Select " Transparent Selection " here.
  3. Drag a box around the created shape and press [Ctrl] + [C] to copy.
  4. Open a new paint file. You can copy the selected object into it using [Ctrl] + [V] . You only transfer the object itself and not the background.
