So you should back up your emails regularly. You should also export your e-mails before switching to another mail program. We'll explain how this works in the following.

How to back up Windows Live Mail

Open Windows Live Mail and click on " File " in the upper left corner . Now select "Export E-Mail " and then click on the " E-Mails " option .

Now select the option " Microsoft Windows Live May l" and then click on " Next ".

The next screen will ask you to specify a location where you want your messages to be backed up. Use the browse button to navigate through files and folders on your computer and select the location you want. Make sure to choose a place that is easy to remember. Then click on " Next ".

After that, you can choose the folders you want to backup. Then click on " Next ".

The export process will then start. Please be patient as the process may take a while depending on the number of messages. Finally, click " Finish " to complete the process.

Your emails are now saved in the folder you selected. You can move it to an external hard drive so that your emails are safe even if your computer's hard drive fails.

  1. Open Windows Live Mail, click on " File " in the upper left corner and go to " Export E-Mail " and " E-Mails " one after the other .

  3. Then select a desired storage location for the backup with " Browse " and then click on " Next ".
