The same applies to PlayStation Network: You are not always satisfied with the name you choose first. But Sony has been providing a remedy since 2019. Because only since then has it been possible to change the name of the PSN profile. The very first name change is free. From the second name change onwards, there is a charge: the normal price is € 9.99. Additional changes cost only € 4.99 for PlayStation Plus members. A return to an old name is free.
Changing the PSN name - that's how it works

1st step:
Go to the Sony login website and log in with your PSN details. Then click on " PSN Profile " on the left and then select " Edit " at the top of " Online ID " . 2nd step:
You will now receive a few hints that some games may no longer work correctly if they have been renamed. After reading this list, you need to click " I Accept ". Further notes follow. 3rd step:
Read the remaining notes and then click on " Continue ". 4th step:
Now enter your new desired name. Click on " Check availability " to see if someone else is already using this name. 5th step:
This is what the ad should look like, if your desired name is still available. With " Confirm " you accept this new name. The first change of your online ID is free of charge.
By the way: You can also change your online ID directly on the PlayStation 4. To call the settings and go to " Account Management " to " account information ". You then have to select the " Online ID " field in " Profile " . You can then change your name here.

- Visit the registration site by Sony and sign in.
- Select " PSN Profile " on the left .
- Now you will see different options on the right. Click on " Edit " next to the item " Online ID ".
- You will now see some warning notices that you should acknowledge with " I accept " and " Continue ".
- You can then specify a new name and " Check availability " via the corresponding button .
- If the name you have chosen is still available, you can select it with " Confirm ". You have now successfully changed your PSN name.
