WhatsApp is still the most popular messaging and phone app for smartphones - and not just in Germany, but internationally. Usually, however, the app needs to be linked to your phone's SIM card number in order to use it. Fortunately, there is a way to use WhatsApp without a SIM card.

Note: You need a landline number for the following instructions.

How to use WhatsApp without a SIM card

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Connect your smartphone to the WLAN , download WhatsApp from the app or Play Store and open the app. When prompted for your number, select your country and enter your landline number . Leave out the 0 of the area code .

2nd step:

WhatsApp will then try to send a confirmation code to this number. After about 5 minutes, the SMS confirmation will fail and you will be given another option. Tap Call Me to receive a call from WhatsApp to your landline number .

3rd step:

You will now receive an automated call from WhatsApp to the landline number. A computer-generated voice will repeat your 6-digit verification code several times. Enter this on WhatsApp.

4th step:

After WhatsApp has checked the code, after the setup you can chat and make calls with your friends and acquaintances on WhatsApp, even without a SIM card.

  1. Establish a WiFi connection with your smartphone, download WhatsApp and open the app. You will be asked to enter your phone number. Now enter your landline number and leave out the 0 of the area code .
  2. After about 5 minutes after the verification code could not be sent to the number, tap on WhatsApp on " Call me ".
  3. You will then receive a call from WhatsApp on your landline number . Enter the code on WhatsApp , which is repeated several times on the phone.
  4. After checking and setting up WhatsApp, you can chat with your friends.
