If you only want to print out one or more parts of a worksheet in Excel, you can define print areas for this. Then when you print your document, only those areas will be printed on each page. To learn how to create, add, remove, and review print areas, see this article.

How to create print areas in Excel

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step

On your worksheet, highlight the cells that you want to set as the print area.

Go to the " Page Layout " tab and click on " Print Area" in the " Page Setup " area .

Click " Set Print Area" to print only the selected area. Now you can already print the area or add further print areas:

To mark another area on your worksheet as a print area, first select it. Then click the " Print Area " button again and select " Add to Print Area ".

If you want to remove all print areas again, click anywhere in the workbook. Tap on the button " Print area " and then on " Cancel print area ".

Finally, you can check your print areas. Proceed on the " View " and click in the " Workbook View " to " break preview " or " Page Break Preview Show ". The print areas are now displayed and you can see from the watermark which page has been assigned to which area.

quick start Guide

  • Set print area: Select an area that you want to print. Go to the " Page Layout " tab , click on " Print Area " and select " Set Print Area ".
  • Add print area: To add another area to the print area, select the desired cells . Go back to Page Layout > Print Area and click Add to Print Area .
  • Remove print area: If you want to delete all print areas, click anywhere in your workbook. Then go back to " Print Layout " under " Page Layout " and click on " Clear Print Area ".
  • Check Print Area: To check your print areas, click View > Break Preview .
