Open the Voice Memos app on your iPhone and tap the red button at the bottom of the screen to start a voice recording.

Tap the Stop button again to end the recording. The app automatically gives the voice memo your current location as a title and saves it on your iPhone. You can then listen to and share the recording in the Voice Memos app or the Files app.

To edit a voice memo, first tap it and then tap the three blue dots to open the menu .

Then go to " Edit recording ".

In this view, you can fast-forward and rewind the recording by sliding the waveforms left and right. To replace part of the recording with a new voice recording , go to the desired location and tap on " REPLACE " at the bottom . Then a new recording starts, which overwrites the previous one. You can stop the recording again using the stop button at the bottom of the screen. To open the view to cut your audio, tap the blue icon in the top right of the waveforms.

You can use the yellow lines to mark areas of the voice memo by dragging them to the left and right. If you want to shorten the beginning or the end of the voice recording, drag the yellow lines where you want them so that only the area you want in the voice memo is selected. Then click on " Shorten ". To delete an area from the audio, select it with the lines and tap on " Delete ". When you have adjusted the voice memo as you wish, click on " Save " in the upper right corner .

Finally, you can send your voice recording from iPhone to other devices or people. To do this, tap on the three blue dots and then on " Share ". Here you can upload the memo to linked cloud services, send the voice recording with AirDrop to nearby Apple devices, send it as e-mail, WhatsApp or other messengers, etc.

  1. Open the Voice Memos app and tap the red button below to start a recording. Tap the button again to end the recording.
  2. To edit a recording, first tap on the memo , then on the three blue dots and then on " Edit recording ".
  3. Fast forward and rewind the recording by dragging the waveforms left and right. Tap on " REPLACE " to overwrite part of the recording with a new one.
  4. In the edit view, tap on the blue symbol on the right above the waveforms to shorten the voice memo or to delete areas from it. To trim, select the area you want to keep and click Trim . To delete an area, select it and click " Delete ". Tap " Save " to save the changes.
  5. To send the voice recording, tap three dots and then on " Share ".
