If you want to brainstorm and sketch ideas with your colleagues during a team meeting, you don't have to hold a sheet of paper in front of the webcam. With the help of a virtual whiteboard, you can brainstorm and scribble directly in teams with your colleagues. The use of the integrated whiteboard is currently limited and therefore does not work on all devices. As an alternative, we will show you in the second section how you can add the Freehand by InVision whiteboard.

Use the Microsoft whiteboard function

You can call up the integrated whiteboard from Microsoft during a video conference using the " Share " button. After clicking on the button, go right under " whiteboard " to the " Microsoft whiteboard ":

This option is only available during a meeting, so you cannot use it in a private call. After the whiteboard has started, anyone in the video chat can draw freehand notes on the whiteboard. To do this, simply click on the pencil symbol . You can also choose a color for your notes by double-clicking the pencil icon. Additional elements such as images, templates and reactions can also be added.

Use the whiteboard from Freehand by InVision

In addition to the Microsoft Teams whiteboard, you have the option of adding the Freehand by InVision whiteboard. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

During a video conference you have to click on the window symbol with the arrow . It is located in the menu bar at the bottom, which can be opened with a mouse movement.

2nd step:

Then select the " Freehand by InVision " program on the right under " Search " .

3rd step:

As a rule, Freehand is not installed on your computer, which you can change via " Add ".

4th step:

Now you have to register with Freehand (" Sign in "). If you do not have an account yet, you can create a free account via " Sign up ".

5th step:

Now you need to click on " New Freehand " on the right to create a new whiteboard.

6th step:

Select your account, then click " Save " below .

7th step:

Now you can draw whatever you want on your whiteboard. About the triangular icon above you can right your whiteboard drawings live to share with the other participants.

quick start Guide

1. Start a conference call in Teams. Then click on the icon with a window and arrow .
2. On the far right in " Browse " you will be presented with two options. Select the lower " Freehand by InVision ".
3. If Freehand is not yet installed on your computer, you have to " Add " it now . Then create an account for free or log in.
4. You can then open a new whiteboard page via " New Freehand ". You still have to select which account the page is to be assigned to and click on " save ".
5. Now you can draw anywhere on the whiteboard. You can switch your whiteboard to live using the small triangle symbol at the top right. So everyone can see what you are writing or drawing.
