Since iOS 11, you can easily share WiFi passwords between Apple devices. This works between iPhone, iPad and Mac. In these instructions you will find out what requirements there are for this and how exactly sharing works.

Requirements for sharing

Before you can share passwords, there are a few things you need to make sure of:

1. Both Apple devices must have at least iOS 11 or macOS High Sierra installed. If possible, however, the latest software version should be used.
2. You must be signed in with your Apple ID on the device from which you want to share the password .
3. You and the person who owns the other Apple device must have each other saved in their contacts .

1st step

Activate WLAN and Bluetooth on both devices . To do this, open the settings and activate the checkmarks for “ WLAN ” and “ Bluetooth ”. Hold the two devices close enough to each other so that they can establish a wireless connection to each other.

2nd step

On the device with which you want to log into the WLAN, open the settings and tap on " WLAN ".

3rd step

From the list of available Wi-Fi networks , find the network you want to connect to and tap on it.

4th step

A message will now appear on the Apple device that is already connected to the WLAN. There tap on “ Share password ” and then on “ Done ”. The password is now automatically used on the other device and the WLAN is connected.

1. Make sure that the prerequisites for sharing are met.
2. Activate WiFi and Bluetooth on both devices and place them close to each other.
3. On the device with which you want to log into the WLAN, open the settings and tap on " WLAN ".
4. Tap the WiFi you want to connect to.
5. In the notification on the device you want to share the password from, select “ Share password ”, then tap “ Done ”.
