With Facebook, you can now delete messages from old Messenger chats..

Have you ever accidentally sent a message to the wrong group of friends, made a typo, or just wanted to remove a message in a chat? This is now possible in Facebook Messenger. And we explain how it works here.

How to delete messages on Facebook Messenger

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open the desired chat in Messenger and move the mouse pointer over the message that you want to delete. Then click on the three-dot menu next to it . Then select " Remove ".

2nd step:

Now choose whether you want to delete the message for yourself only or for all participants in the chat. The latter only works with your own messages. Then click " Remove " again.

3rd step:

After that, the message will no longer be displayed.

Open the chat you want in Facebook Messenger. There, press and hold the message you want to delete. Then tap the " Remove " option at the bottom .

2nd step:

Then select the option you want. " Call back " removes the message for all chat participants, " Remove for you " deletes the message for you only.

3rd step:

Then confirm the deletion by tapping " Remove ".

4th step:

The message is then removed.
