Regardless of whether you want to have your messages read aloud to you by the WhatsApp messenger app from your Android smartphone or your iPhone - both are possible. Because both the Apple assistant Siri and the Google Assistant have such a feature. You'll never have to read your messages yourself again.

Here's how to have your WhatsApp messages read to you

Android

Before you can let the Google Assistant read your messages to you, we recommend that you set up voice activation. You can find out how to activate the "OK, Google" function here. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open the Google Assistant and say " Read my messages ". The first time you will get a message that the Google Assistant needs the correct permissions to read your messages aloud. So tap on " OK ".

2nd step:

You will be redirected to the settings of your smartphone. Now activate the slider for " Google ".

3rd step:

Then confirm the process with " Allow ".

4th step:

Now open the Google Assistant again with " OK, Google ". Then say " Read my messages " again.

5th step:

If you have new unread messages in WhatsApp, the Google Assistant will now read them to you.

6th step:

You will then be given the opportunity to reply directly to the message.

iPhone

Before you can have Siri read your messages to you, you must first activate the assistant. You can read here how to activate Siri. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Before Siri can read out your WhatsApp messages, you must first grant Siri the correct permissions in the settings. To do this, open your iPhone settings and tap on " Siri & Search ".

2nd step:

Scroll down there and tap on " WhatsApp ".

3rd step:

Now make sure that the option " Use with Siri " is checked there.

4th step:

Now you can open Siri either with " Hey Siri " or by holding the home button and have your new unread messages read out to you with " Read my WhatsApp messages to ".

5th step:

You will then be asked if you want to reply to the message.

Quick start guide: Android

1. Open the Google Assistant and say " Read my messages ".
2. Then tap " OK " on the message that appears .
3. Now activate the slider for " Google " in the settings of your smartphone . Confirm with " Allow ".
4. Now open the Google Assistant again and say " Read my messages ".
5. New unread messages will then be read to you. You then have the option to reply to the message directly.

Quick start guide: iPhone

1. Open the settings of your iPhone and tap on " Siri & Search ".
2. Then select " WhatsApp " below .
3. Now make sure that " Use with Siri " is checked in order to give Siri the necessary permissions.
4. Then open Siri and say " Read my WhatsApp messages ".
5. Your messages will then be read aloud. You will then be asked if you would like to reply to the messages directly.
