If a printer is causing problems with your computer or you simply no longer need it, you can uninstall it. In this tipps + tricks article, you can find out how to do this under Windows 10.

Windows: Uninstall the printer

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

First, disconnect the printer from the computer. If these are connected by cable, pull this out. If the printer and PC are connected via network, simply disconnect the printer from the power supply. Now switch to the control panel on your PC .

Under Hardware and Sound, click View Devices and Printers .

Click by right-clicking on the desired printer and select " Remove device ". Then confirm the subsequent dialog. The printer is now removed from the list of devices.

Now remove the printer software and the driver: To do this, go to the Control Panel again and click on " Uninstall a program " under " Programs ".

Find the driver for your printer in the list and click on it. Then click on " Uninstall " at the top . Alternatively, you can right-click the driver to select it and then click " Uninstall ". Finally, you should restart your PC to safely complete the uninstallations.

  1. Disconnect the printer from the computer (cable or network). Then open the control panel of your PC.
  2. Under " Hardware and Sound " on " devices and printers ."
  3. By right-clicking select the desired printer. Then click on " Remove device " and confirm the subsequent dialog. The printer is removed from the device list.
  4. To remove the printer driver , go to the control panel again and click on " Uninstall a program " under " Programs ".
  5. Click on the driver for your printer, then click on " Uninstall " at the top . Alternatively, select the driver with a right-click and then click on " Uninstall ". Restart your PC to complete the uninstallations.
