Adding a page in the middle of a long document is a minor problem in OpenOffice . Since the document is viewed as a continuous flow of text, when using line breaks to create a new page, formatting problems will arise if you add text before that page. When new lines are needed, the line breaks are pushed down, causing your new page to overflow to the next page. The solution is to surround the page with page breaks that will keep this separation regardless of future edits.

Insert manual page break in OpenOffice

You can insert page breaks anywhere in your text document:

1st step:

Click where you want to insert the page break in your document. Then select the " Insert " category above and click on the " Manual break ... " entry in the menu .

2nd step:

Now select the desired option here. Selecting Line Break creates a page break above the selected cell, Column Break creates a page break to the left of the selected cell, and Page Break inserts a break below the cell. Then click OK .

The page break will then be inserted into your document.

Set automatic page breaks in OpenOffice

OpenOffice automatically inserts breaks if the text no longer fits in the intended text area. But you can customize these automatic breaks even further:

1st step:

In the " Text Flow " tab you will now see several options for adjusting page breaks. For example, you will also find the shoemaker boy and whore child regulation here . After that you can define the lines that should appear at least together on the same page at the beginning or end of a paragraph. You can also specify here that paragraphs should never be separated or that a certain paragraph should remain together with the following paragraph on one page .
