When your friends come to your house, you may need to give them your WiFi password. And if it's a complex password, it'll take a while. But you can speed up the whole process by creating a QR code that your friends can then scan using an app on your smartphone to connect to your WiFi.

How to create a QR code for your WiFi

You can create a QR code with the help of various websites that only require the name of your network and the associated password. We use the WiFi QR code generator in this manual , but you can choose which QR code generator you want to use. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

First you need the access data for your network so that you can enter them on the website. You can usually find the network name and password on the back of your router - unless you have changed these settings. There you will also find the encryption of your network, which you will need in the next step.

2nd step:

Then open the website https://www.qrcode-generator.de/solutions/wifi-qr-code/ . Enter the appropriate data for your network under " Network name " and " Password ". Then select the appropriate encryption. In most cases you can leave this at " WPA / WPA2 ". Then click on the " Create QR Code " button .

3rd step:

Your QR code has now been created on the right. You can now change the color of your QR code under " Shape & Color " by clicking on the ring with the plus and then selecting a desired color. If you are satisfied with your code, click the " Download JPG " button to save an image file on your computer. You can then print out the code, for example.

4th step:

If you now scan the QR code with your smartphone , it will immediately be recognized that it is access data for a network. Depending on the smartphone manufacturer and the app used, tap the code or the notification.

5th step:

Your smartphone will then automatically connect to the WLAN.

quick start Guide

  1. First, look at the back of your router for the access data for your network. Of course, you do not have to do this if you have changed the password yourself.
  2. Then open the website https://www.qrcode-generator.de/solutions/wifi-qr-code/ and enter the associated access data under " Network name " and under " Password ". The type of encryption can also be found under " Encryption " on the back of your router.
  3. Then click on " Create QR Code ".
  4. You can then change the color of your QR code under " Shape & Color " on the right .
  5. Then click " Download JPG " to download it as an image file.
  6. If the code is now scanned, the smartphone automatically connects to the WLAN.
