So-called section breaks make it possible to use different formatting within a Word document. If you want to merge the sections again, you first have to know where such a section change can be found in the Word layout. In the following we will show you how this works and how it is then deleted.

How to remove a section break in Word

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

In order for a section break to be displayed, you must activate the formatting symbols . In this way, Word shows you all possible formatting, including paragraph marks, in the document. Use either the symbol shown in the menu bar or the key combination [Ctrl] + [*] .

2nd step:

You will now see the section break in the corresponding section in Word. In our case a "section change (next page)". Now place the mouse cursor just before the section break (as shown).

3rd step:

Now press the [Del] key and the section break will be removed.

Note : After deleting a section break, the formatting is carried over from the section after the break to the section before the break..

quick start Guide

  1. First activate the formatting symbols using the corresponding symbol in the menu bar. This also works simply with the key combination [Ctrl] + [*] .
  2. Now place your mouse cursor immediately in front of the section break and press [Del] and the section break will be removed.
