This is how the thesaurus works in Word

There are basically two ways in which you can use thesaurus in Word:

Thesaurus as a dictionary

On the one hand, you can use the thesaurus function like a dictionary. To do this, click on the " Check " tab at the top and then click on " Thesaurus " in the " Spelling " area . An area then appears on the right in which you can enter a word in the upper text field . Definitions and synonyms are then displayed below this.

On the other hand, you can use thesaurus directly in the text to display synonyms. To do this, select a word or part of a sentence and click on it with the right mouse button . If you then move the mouse to " Synonyms ", suggestions for alternative words will be displayed. If you click on a suggestion , it will replace the selected word. Clicking on “ Thesaurus ... ” also opens the dictionary function, which offers you further definitions and synonyms.
