To add importance to your messages, you can underline them. But that's not that easy in WhatsApp..

The WhatsApp instant messaging app offers some text formatting options to change the font style of your messages. You can write in bold, italic, strikethrough and monospace formats. Officially, WhatsApp does not allow you to underline your text. You can still do it with a trick!

How to underline in WhatsApp

Thanks to third-party apps, you can format your text however you want, including underlining. We use the Fonts LLC app for this , which you can find free of charge in both the Google Play Store and the App Store .

1st step:

Download the Fonts app to your smartphone. After the installation, open it and then tap the button " Activate the fonts keyboard ".

2nd step:

You are then in the settings of your smartphone. Activate the " Fonts " option there .

3rd step:

Confirm with " OK " and then switch back to the Fonts app.

4th step:

Now tap on the button " Change to fonts ".

5th step:

Then select " Fonts " as your keyboard.

6th step:

You can then choose your preferred keyboard language . Then tap " OK " in the upper right corner .

7th step:

The new keyboard is now successfully set up .

8th step:

Now open any WhatsApp chat . Then swipe left above the keyboard to navigate through the different fonts. Select " Underline ".

9th step:

Now when you compose and send a message, the text is underlined .

iPhone

Install the Fonts app on your iPhone. Then open it and then tap the " Go to settings " button .

2nd step:

You will then be directed to the settings of your iPhone. There tap on the option " Keyboards ".

3rd step:

Activate " Fonts " here and then switch back to the Fonts app.

4th step:

Fonts is now successfully set up . You can now test the new keyboard.

5th step:

Then open any chat in WhatsApp . Now tap on the " Aa " button on the left below the text field to open the menu for the various font formats.

6th step:

Now select " Underline " there.

7th step:

Now when you compose and send a message, the letters and characters are underlined .

Quick start guide: Android

1. Install the Fonts app on your smartphone.
2. Then open the app and tap on " Activate the fonts keyboard ".
3. Now activate the " Fonts " option in the smartphone settings .
4. Confirm with " OK " and then switch back to the Fonts app.
5. Here tap on " Switch to Fonts " and then select " Fonts ".
6. Then select the desired language and confirm with " OK ".
7. After successful setup, open any WhatsApp chat .
8. Wipe then above the keyboard to the left to navigate through the various fonts.
9. Select " Underline " here. Your text will now be formatted underlined.

Quick start guide: iPhone

1. Install the Fonts app on your iPhone.
2. Then open the app and select " Go to settings ".
3. In the settings of your iPhone, tap on the option " Keyboards ".
4. Then activate " Fonts ".
5. Switch back to the Fonts app, the keyboard should be set up there.
6. Then open any chat in WhatsApp .
7. On the left below the text field you can see the button "Aa" to open a menu with the different fonts.
8. There you select " Underline " to underline your messages.
