Quick guide: Transferring data via USB cable

  1. First you have to connect your device to your computer with a USB cable . For this, the manufacturer includes a USB cable in the scope of delivery.
  2. Once you have connected both devices, go to " This PC " in Explorer (up to Windows 8 this menu item is still called " Computer "). Alternatively, from Windows 8 onwards, you can also use the shortcut [Windows] + [E] to open the Explorer.
  3. Your device should now appear under " Devices and Drives ". It may take a while for your phone to appear. You may also need to unlock your phone or tablet to access the device on your computer. On newer smartphones, the push notification " Device is being charged via USB. Tap for further options. " There you can then select how the USB access is to be used. Tap Transfer Files to access all of the data on your smartphone.
  4. If you use a memory card in your mobile phone, it may be shown separately. Then, depending on the location of the file in question, you can choose between the device's internal memory or the memory card. So select the appropriate storage location by double-clicking it.
  5. Now you can choose between different directories on your mobile phone . The corresponding folders are named after the corresponding storage purpose, e.g. Music for music etc.
  6. Depending on what you want to transfer between mobile phone and computer, select the appropriate folder . Now you can simply highlight the relevant file , hold down the left mouse button and drag the file from your computer to your mobile phone or vice versa . Do not release the file with the mouse until you have dragged it to its destination folder.
  7. Alternatively, you can also copy files by right-clicking on the file and then clicking on " Copy " (alternatively you can also use the shortcut [Ctrl] + [C] ). Then go to the target directory, right-click there again and this time select " Paste " (alternatively you can also use the shortcut [Ctrl] + [V] ).
