With Apple's AirDrop, you can easily and conveniently send data back and forth between your Mac and iPhone - completely wirelessly. In the following we explain which settings you have to make on Mac and iPhone to enable data exchange and how you then send data.

preparation

iPhone

1st step:

Open iPhone Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of your screen. First make sure that WLAN and Bluetooth are activated ( how to deactivate Bluetooth and WLAN under iOS 11, read here ). To switch AirDrop on, press and hold the box on the top left with your finger .

2nd step:

A new menu window will now open in which you will find the AirDrop option . Tap it to enable AirDrop.

3rd step:

Now select either " Contacts only " or " Everyone " and AirDrop is activated on your iPhone.

Mac

1st step:

To send data back and forth between Mac and iPhone via AirDrop, you must first activate Bluetooth and WiFi on your Mac . You can do this using the corresponding symbols in the top right-hand corner of the menu bar.

2nd step:

If you have previously activated AirDrop on your iPhone, your device should now be displayed in the Finder under "AirDrop" . If AirDrop does not appear in the Finder sidebar , you still have to activate AirDrop . To do this, click on "Finder"> "Settings"> "Sidebar" in the menu bar and check the box next to "AirDrop" .

Send data via AirDrop

Note: iPhone and Mac must be unlocked for data transfer via AirDrop to work.

From Mac to iPhone

To transfer a file from Mac to iPhone, simply drag the file to your connected device under AirDrop in the Finder . The app in which the file was saved will then open automatically on your iPhone..
