If you can't remember your Wi-Fi password or want to know the password of another network, you can easily do that using your Mac's keychain. It is only important that you were previously logged into the WLAN, because then the password was saved in the keychain.

Display the WiFi password on the Mac - this is how it works

1st step:

Open your Mac's keychain. The quickest way to do this is to use the Spotlight search . To do this, click on the small magnifying glass in the menu bar at the top right and enter " Keychain Management ". When the result is the Keychain Access, double-click to open it .

2nd step:

In the keychain management, enter the name of your WLAN in the search field at the top right and confirm with [ Enter ]. Your WLAN will now appear in a list. Open it with a double click .

3rd step:

Now click in the box in front of "Show password" below . A new window will appear in which you have to enter your login password . Confirm with " Allow ".

Then the searched WLAN password is shown in the field behind "Show password".

  1. Open the keychain management via the spotlight search .
  2. Enter the name of your WLAN in the search field at the top right and confirm with [ Enter ].
  3. Now look for your WLAN from the list that appears and select it with a double click .
  4. Then click in the box in front of " Show password ".
  5. A window then appears in which you have to enter your login password.
  6. Confirm with " Allow " and your WLAN password will be displayed .
